Well unfortunately Saturday was very wet, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of some TAG members who came along outside the CourtHouse Arts Centre and exhibited their work. We had a few visitors, but really it was a day for staying indoors !!

However Sunday dawned bright, if a little windy and once more the troops gathered ! This time the rain mostly kept away. We had some visitors through the day and then at the time of the prizegiving we had more people arrive. Paintings were sold.

We had a great response to our art competition for local schools. There were over 250 entries. The schools who participated were : Tinahely NS. Kilcommon, Crossbridge and Coolafancy. The work is colourful and energetic. Thanks to the Courthouse for opening on Monday and helping us hang the exhibition. Maggie said they never had as many paintings on show. So be sure to get down and see it from Thursday 31st July to Sat 2nd of August. The prize giving will be on Sunday 3rd of August at 4.00. If you come to see it on Sat or Sun don’t forget to look at TAG members art outside the courthouse. Some of the members will be painting.

On April 6th 2014, once again our group went to Tomnafinogue Woods to create our works of art in the woods. This was our third year creating art in Tomnafinogue.  We normally work individually, creating pieces from what is in the woods. This year we decided to do a collaborative piece, which for me was exciting. As artists we tend to work in isolation, so its nice to work alongside other people and share creative thoughts. The day was co-ordinated by Padraig McGowran, Simon Dalton and Niall O’Neill. Not too many members turned up but those who did had a wonderful magical creative day. We met as usual in the carpark and the rain was falling a little, but the sun soon came out. We started by doing a few individual pieces and then getting together to create our one collaborative piece. Simon who sometimes works doing props on film, brought along a wind up record player and some 78 records. The atmosphere was set ! The music mixed with the birdsong and the sun came out. What a fantastic day. If you would like to see our video that really shows the atmosphere check out our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tinahely-Arts-Group/179109778834668?ref=hl

A brief synopsis of what we have been up to since our last update

We apologise for lack of updating on this site. It was due to some technical issues, but all has been put right with the world  and we will try show what TAG has been up to.

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY Art Exhibition in Court House Art Centre Tinahely

An exhibition of work made specifically for this show by our members. The exhibition challenged the members to create work which is inspired by the people and physical, natural and manmade environment of Tinahely. This work  also addressed where and how this rural location has been effected by current social difficulties. We encouraged Members to make artistic statements that serve to both inform the viewer and push the members in their own art practice. The work was to have a direct relevance to the location it is being set in and  be a more contemplative and lateral artistic expression of who and where we are today.” It was opened on the 2nd of November 2013 by Eoin O’Connor and was very well received in the community. The show remained in place until Saturday 7th of December and on collecting our pieces we retired to our Chairpersons House (Bruce Copeland) and Bruce and his wife Olivia treated us to mince pies and wine. We were also joined by some potential new members.

MEET AND GREET PARTY Saturday 15th February 2014

On Saturday 15th of February we had our Meet and Greet party in the Farm Shop Tinahely. The party was for our existing members to get together and have some fun and for potential new members to meet us and find out what our events for 2014 were. The evening was a wonderful success and we had a lot of new potential members most of whom have now joined TAG and we would like to welcome them most sincerely and look forward to seeing their work along side all other TAG members in our future endeavoursDSCN1616 DSCN1613 DSCN1619 DSCN1621 DSCN1623 DSCN1611 DSCN1609 DSCN1608
